This is a rare January 28th, 1928 (Opening Night) programme (playbill) from the two-week, London Repertory Company production of the BRAM STOKER classic "DRACULA" ("The Vampire Play") at the Regent Theatre in London. (Originally scheduled to play one week, the production was extended for a second week due to an overwhelming demand for tickets.) ..... The play starred EDMUND BLAKE, who in 1924 in Derby, England, was the first actor to portray "Count Dracula" in Hamilton Deane's original adaptation of the work. The remaining cast included WILLIAM DEWHURST, WILLIAM LORRIMER, MOLLY TAPPER, GERARD NEVILLE, JOAN CARRINGTON, PEGGY MORTIMER, RICHARD TURNER, DOROTHY DEWHURST, HORACE CUSTINS and CLAUDE RICKS ..... CREDITS: Book by HAMILTON DEANE adapted from the world famous novel, "Dracula" by BRAM STOKER; Sets designed by T. J. BUNN; Staged by MARTIN SABINE; Produced by MARTIN SABINE and HARRY L. WARBURTON by arrangement with WALTER PAYNE ..... DETAILS: The oversized eight page program measures 7 1/2" X 10" inches and includes full production credits, cast list, synopsis of scenes, promotional text and wonderful vintage advertising, but no cast photos or bios ..... CONDITION: With the exception of a removed seal from the cover, minor creasing and moderate edge wear, this rare program is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any theatre aficionado or historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective, carded sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
